The Community committee works to support individuals, schools and other organisations within our local area. Our regular projects include ‘Kids Out’, taking special needs children for a day of fun and laughter to a major theme park, where they join with others from around the Yorkshire Rotary district. We sponsor a sports day at another special needs school and treat the elderly housebound to an evening at the theatre. Other regular events include a Christmas toy collection, participating in the stroke awareness/blood pressure testing day and arranging a Christmas carol service/concert. Other individual events and projects are arranged as and when necessary.

“To identify and fulfill the needs of the Rotary Club’s community, utilising, to the full, the skills, talents and vocations of the Club’s membership. To prioritise the ideal of service within the community, acknowledging that, as a provider of funding, Rotary is merely one of many, but as a provider of service, it is without peer. To recognise the worthiness of all useful occupations and to uphold the Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions.”
In Bradford West, we have particular commitments to:
Bradford Heartstart - in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation, this encourages and guides people into receiving training in Emergency Life Support and particularly including training in resuscitation.
Drug Prevention Initiative - we work with Bradford Schools and the local Police to provide assessors and advisors for good practice in drugs education.

The object of the international committee is to foster goodwill and understanding in an international environment.Over the last few years the committee of the Bradford West Rotary Club has endeavored to cover a range of projects which have involved a hands on approach as well as good fellowship and fun. We have been involved in Sri Lanka with a village building project using Monica Alfred, our peace studies scholar from Sri lanka as a link.At the same time we have assisted a deaf school in Tanzania and sponsored two secondary school children in the same town of Musoma. Our principal efforts on fundraising have focused on the Convoy to Ukraine, a locally organised annual event to take much needed items to Eastern Europe, and a special emphasis on Children and Water. To this end we have supported Hope and Homes,Wateraid, Jaipur limb project and plan international.
